Sailing Brixham
Brixham

Vigilance, Provident, Golden Vanity, Pilgrim, Leader, Kaywaydin and Regard – the names of Brixham’s growing fleet of heritage sailing vessels.

The ketch-rigged Brixham sailing trawlers were the last of Britain’s fishing fleet to trawl under sail. At the end of the 19th Century there were over 300 of these sturdy, wooden sailing trawlers fishing out of Brixham. Today Leader, Pilgrim, Regard and Vigilance are examples of these elegant vessels that have been lovingly restored to their original glory. They now share a special heritage pontoon in Brixham’s Harbour with a number of other classic sailing vessels. A trip to the pontoon will usually guarantee a closer look at some at some of these fine vessels.
