Investigations into the archaeology of Alcester began with local businessman B.W. Davis in the
1920's.
Recent excavations have revealed much about the area of the Roman town which would have been outside the boundary wall built in the 3rd century AD.
Most of the material that has been found is being stored and cared for at Warwickshire Museum. The new Heritage Centre means that many important objects will
soon be seen back in the town where they were first discovered.
