Opened in 1996, the Witney & District Museum is situated in the centre of
the town, along the High Street. The large ground floor gallery houses a long
term exhibition, showing the history of Witney and the surrounding area, and
highlighting the changes that have taken place over the past 1,000 years. Local industries, such as the making of Witney Blankets, glove making and
brewing are all features.
The Bartlett Taylor Gallery is upstairs and is used for temporary exhibitions,
please telephone for information. Refreshments are available and there is a
small bookstall for the enjoyment of visitors and to help with running costs.
