Oxford is well served by road and  rail networks that give fast and direct access locally, nationally and from  Europe.

By Train
Oxford railway station is located on the western edge of the city  centre, about 10 minutes walk from Carfax (the cental point in the city). The  station is managed by
Thames Trains, with routes from Stratford-upon-Avon to London Paddington and Bristol,  and is also served by Virgin Trains from Scotland to the south coast.

Services  to London Paddington run twice an hour during the day, with journeys taking  around 60 minutes.

X90 The Oxford  Express: 24 hour express coaches linking central London (Victoria) with Oxford  (Gloucester Green), running every 20 minutes during the daytime.

X70 The Oxford Express: 24 hour express  coaches linking
Heathrow Airport with  Oxford, running every 30 minutes during the daytimes and every 2 hours  overnight. From the airport, leaves Bay 19, Terminal 4, and Bay 10, Heathrow  Central Bus Station.

X80 The Oxford  Express: 24 hour express coaches linking
Gatwick Airport with  Oxford, running every hour between 04.00 and 20.00 and every 2 hours overnight.  From the airport, leaves Bay 8, South Terminal, and Bay 4, North Terminal, 5  minutes later.

Cityline services:  frequent local bus routes serving destinations in and around  Oxford.

Stagecoach Oxford
The Oxford  Tube: The Oxford to London service runs 24 hours a day. Coaches run every 10  minutes at busy times and every 15-20 minutes throughout the rest of the day.  There is at least an hourly service during the night. London stops include  Victoria, Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate and Shepherd's Bush/Kensington Hilton.

Stagecoach Oxford also operates other key  services in the region including the X50 Oxford to Stratford-upon-Avon  route.

Jetlink operates the daily services 757, linking Oxford and Stansted  Airport, and 767, linking Oxford and Luton Airport.

By Car
Oxford is  connected to London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway. Junctions 8  and 9 link directly to the city. The Oxford ring road provides direct access to  the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the  A34.

Park and Ride
Parking in  the city centre is extremely limited and visitors to Oxford arriving by car are  recommended to use the city's 'Park & Ride' service. Fast and frequent bus  services link four car parks located adjacent to the ring road with the city  centre, 7 days a week.

The 'Park & Ride' car  parks are: Peartree (to the north, off the A34), Thornhill (to the east, off the  A40), Redbridge (to the south, off the A4142) and Seacourt (to the west, off the  A34).

Access
There are access  restrictions to cars within the city centre, particularly for traffic coming  into the centre from the east, along High Street.
