2 miles south-west of Daventry
Wooded countryside surrounds Badby, which clings to the side of Badby Downs. In springtime, the wood outside the village is a mass of blue-bells. Winding lanes, lined with attractive ironstone cottages, lead down to the village green. In the centre of the green stands the Gothic-style village hall, which used to house the local school and is now a private residence.
I3adby is bordered by Fawsley Park. with its Tudor Great Hall and ruined Dower House, formerly the homes of the Knightley family. The park also contains a fine avenue of cherry trees, lakes and several picnic spots.
The 14th-century parish church of St Mary lies on high ground above the main street. Its war-memorial window shows St George and St Michael - complete with swords and flaming wings - slaying two dragons. On the roadside south of the village is the derelict Lantern House, a tiny, two-storey, early-l9th-century building in the shape of a lantern.
