Travel Waltham Abbey
Waltham Abbey

The town centre is just off the M25 motorway at junction 26. The A121 links the motorway with both Waltham Abbey and Waltham Cross.
To the north, the B194 comes in from Nazeing and Harlow, while the A112 Sewardstone Road leads south along the valley towards Chingford and Walthamstow.

Sun Street, the main thoroughfare is pedestrian only, local traffic being taken around the town centre via Quaker Lane.  Through traffic on the A121 skirts the town using a short section of dual carriageway called Abbey View.

Parking in Waltham Abbey is 'Pay & Display'. The main car park is reached via Quaker Lane and there is also daytime parking in the Abbey Gardens, reached from an exit off the Abbey View/Crooked Mile roundabout.

Bus Services
Most bus services are operated by Arriva East Herts & Essex.   Route 517 links Waltham Abbey with Waltham Cross and Enfield (Mondays - Saturdays).  Route 505 runs from Harlow to Chingford and Walthamstow via Waltham Abbey and the A112 Sewardstone Road. The stretch to and from Chingford is also covered by route 252. Routes 240/250 operate along the A121 between Waltham Cross and Loughton, via Waltham Abbey.

For many years until the 1999 timetable, route 333 open top buses ran the entire length of the Lee Valley Park from Mile End/Clapton to Broxbourne/Dobbs Weir during the summer, linking various leisure sites such as Broxbourne Pool, Waltham Abbey, Lee Valley Leisure Centre and Lee Valley Ice Centre.  In 1999 single deck buses took over, but in 2000 even this limited service no longer operates. Route 505 does run on summer Sundays instead.
