Season tickets or casual use 'lake passes' can be purchased and the centre also offers day group activities such as for birthday parties.
A bridleway runs along the northern boundary and there is a path around the lake that offers views of the site and the surrounding countryside.
Site surveys in recent years have confirmed that the site is home to a wide variety of birds, including winter visitors and breeding birds. There are a range of habitats at Horseshoe Lake including:
· open water
· marginal shallows
· bare ground
· rough grassland
· patches of developing scrub
This combination of habitats supports a variety of invertebrates including grasshoppers and crickets and a number of different species of dragonflies and butterflies.
