Axe Vale and District Conservation Society is located in East Devon, centred about the Devon River Axe. We consider our area to be roughly bounded on the North by Chard / Somerset border, to the East up to the Lyme Regis / Dorset Border, to the West at the outskirts of Sidmouth / Sidford and to the South we have the sea (Lyme Bay).

The area comprises beautiful countryside of woodlands, heath, marshes, streams, rivers and estuary and also seashore and cliffs including the Devon-Dorset Undercliff National Nature Reserve. In December 2001, the East Devon - Dorset coastline was designated as an World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
