Hele
Return North Devon

Hele is a small coastal village in an area of outstanding natural beauty with an excellent beach, good local amenities and a large free car park. The resort of Ilfracombe is only 1.5 miles away - a short drive or a spectacular walk along the coastal path through Hillsborough Nature Reserve. The beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, depending on the tides, and when the tide is out you can explore the many rock-pools or walk around ‘Fishing Rock’ to Blythe's Cove. The beach is safe for swimming at any stage of the tide and the sea water has passed the EEC standards for bathing water quality every year since 1997.

In the village there is free parking, a garage-shop, public house, tea room, cafe, take-away, restaurant and a regular bus service. Within half a mile is a professional 18-hole golf course, an old corn mill and pottery and an indoor swimming pool surrounded by playing fields. Nearby in Chambercombe is the fascinating ancient Manor house and horse riding stable.
