Exmouth
RETURN EAST DEVON

Acknowledged as one of the most beautiful in Britain, the Exe estuary abounds in birdlife, including sandpipers and rare avocets.
Exmouth is the largest town in East Devon and has two miles of glorious, safe sands. All around the town are views of the beautiful countryside that often provide visitors with quality walks. For those who prefer the shorter jaunts, the promenade allows you to enjoy the sea breeze, the views and some handy family entertainment. As a consequence, Exmouth has built for itself something of a reputation as the water sports centre of East Devon. All equipment can be hired locally, from windsurfing to jet skiing. Onshore and off shore fishing providing hours of entertainment and many lazy, relaxing days. Exmouth is a family resort, with children readily catered for in most aspects of its daily life.

Tantalising glimpses of castles and riverside villages abound and the sunsets are spectacular.

Exmouth, at the estuary's mouth, marks the World Heritage Coastline's western gateway. Despite being one of England's oldest holiday towns, it has escaped brash commercialism. Exmouth has two-miles of golden sand and elegant Georgian architecture, once home to Lady Nelson. A busy new marina, gardens, friendly shops, restaurants, pubs, cafes and quality accommodation add to its appeal.

Activities available include a coastal playground, with boating lake and crazy golf, swimming, sailing, water-skiing, tennis, bowls, cricket, pony riding, river cruises and fishing trips. Other events include concerts, plays, flower shows, dancing, Royal Marine Band displays, art exhibitions, bowls tournaments, fetes and the illuminated carnival.
